Review 1 of 8

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Adobe Online

Summary:

After having struggled with the basic problem of digital photo, i.e. organization and oversight, Adobe Photoshop Album fixed it. The tagging and collections works wonders, and so does the timeline approach. It is very useful to make collections and then being able to click a button and see a specific picture in the context of other pictures taken at the same event, even if they don't belong to the collection in question. This may sound technical, but try it and you will understand. Adobe Photoshop takes hassle out of your life, that is the way I look at it.

Strengths:

Elegant tagging and collection features. No need to sort the original photos in various folders.

Weaknesses:

Still have to find out.

Similar Products Used:

Camedia, Microsoft Picture It

Customer Service:

Not tested

Review 2 of 8

Price Paid:  $4499.00 from Jessops

Summary:

Because I cannot save the tags information when creating a backup or archive disc, this product is of little use. The tags are a main point when searching your database and yet they are not there!! Have phoned ADOBE agent but they do not have a fix neither do they give the imprssion of much care or interest. Did not return my first call as promised.

Strengths:

Section for captions and other information on image.

Weaknesses:

Poor after sales service. No fix to this problem.

Similar Products Used:

none yet

Customer Service:

Poor, do not really seem to care

Review 3 of 8

Price Paid:  $46.00 from Amazon

Summary:

The Photoshop Album is a memory hog. I have to close all my programs so it will run. It is cumbersome and disappointing.

Strengths:

Cataloging pictures according to date and subject. I suspect I could do as well without it.

Weaknesses:

Totally dissatisfied with crashes.

Similar Products Used:

Photoshop, Camedia Pro

Review 4 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Re Adobe Photoshop Album This product supports US date format only, and only in numerics. So 1/2/03 is not the 1st of February. A real problem unless you are a US citizen.

Weaknesses:

US date format only. International users beware.

Customer Service:

I could not find a way to contact Adobe on their web site

Review 5 of 8

Price Paid:  $40.00 from Fry's Electronics

Summary:

Photoshop Album works perfectly as a means to organize massive amounts of information through an interface that makes sense. Cataloging information is as simple as grabbing images from any source - a camera, scanner or on your hard drive. Individual images can be tagged by dragging any number of preset and user defined tags over the image. Additional information can be attached to image files by adding captions. Although billed as an entry level product for the emerging digital imaging market, it does not quite meet those expectations. Although basic image enhancement tools are available, they are certainly no replacement for Photoshop Elements. As a tool to publish images for the home user, expect only the basics with very little flexibility. It attempts to mimic the functionality of Apple's iPhoto, but is lacking in every sense of the word. As mentioned, it's a great way to organize information, but don't have your heart set on having the flexibility and excellent user interface of iPhoto for your Windows PC. iPhoto still reigns supreme. Album also provides a way to publish web galleries, a reason I purchased it in addition to organizing photos. From my experience, stick to Elements or Photoshop. Adobe seems to have skimped on the bicubic resampling - the results I got yielded very disappointing scaled images.

Strengths:

Great for organizing photos - very intuitive

Weaknesses:

Everything not associated with organizing photos

Similar Products Used:

ArcSoft Photobase iView PhotoRelay Canon ZoomBrowser EX Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements
