Great Mini DV Camera. Quality is good for the Video. Even picturing fast moving Jet planes is a matter of ease. I was at the Air show and captured the air show with tremendous video quality.

Do not use this for Still pictures the resolution is not as expected.

Repairs are very expensive.

Review 2 of 19

Price Paid:  $1099.00 from Digital Kingdom.com

Summary:

This cam is great for digital video and transfer to PC via IEEE1304 firewire is a breeze. From a VIDEO recording perspective, it's crisp and easy to use. The ONLY problem with this unit is that the digital still quality sucks, under all conditions. While the combo option is handy, the resolution is just not enough relative to a 2,3 or 4 megapixel photo.

Strengths:

Digital Video quality. PC attachment via firewire. light weight and small footprint. TV/VCR hookup is easy

Weaknesses:

Digital still quality is HORRIBLE under all light conditions.

Review 4 of 19

Price Paid:  $699.00 from Circuit City

Summary:

If it''s good quality video in a stylish, highly convenient and portable package this is a solid choice. It took only a few days to get use to its size and functions. I now find myself reaching for the camcorder on all sorts of occassions, unlike the larger JVC I used before. Its portability alone, easily off-sets any compromises i.e. battery-life, low light, small controls. I''m not capturing memories for a lifetime that would otherwise be "heard" but not seen. Is it worth it? One has only to ask the grandparents, who now cherish their video emails!

Strengths:

Style. Convenience. Quality of picture and unit itself. Once I got use to it . . . I fell in love with the remote unit.

Weaknesses:

Still image quality. If the battery time is problem (not for me) the double capacity back-up I purchased takes care of it while adding minimal bulk. I did have some capability problems in terms of capturing ilink video with my laptop (Sony Vaio) and Windows XP operating system. The JVC software that came with the unit was pretty outdated by the time of my purchase. Window Movie Maker has worked fine for now. No analog input.

Similar Products Used:

JVC & SONY

Customer Service:

When I comes to capatibility problems they were all pretty pitiful from Sony to Gateway to JVC. Otherwise the unit itself has been bullet-proof.

first camcorder that I have owned. I just love it because it is SMALL and has great video and audio quality! AWESOME AWESOME

Strengths:

video and sound quality. As big as a soda can!! Just a little bigger though.

Weaknesses:

I heard it is bad in low lights, oh well, hardly shoot in low lights anyway!

Customer Service:

don't need this!
