Summary:

I have used the Camcorder to take wedding pictures, vacation pictures in Costa Rica and general videos of the Central Florida coast area here. After having the camcorder for 3 years I built an AMD 1.2 GHz, 46 BB hard drive with 512 Mb
SDRAM memory & aRadeon ATI All In Wonder 32MB graphics card. The compatability & capabilities are fantastic!

Strengths:

While this was one of the first Mini DV format camcorders I am much happier now that I have the computer capture capability. The pictures are sharp and exceed any consumer analog VHS quality.

Weaknesses:

The resolution is lower than the camera's on the market now but that is to be expected! The operator manual does not have all the necessary instructions however if you perservere you can get the complex answers from tech support

Similar Products Used:

Before buying the unit I compared several new format Mini DV cameras & settled on the JVC.

Customer Service:

Have not had a need for customer service. I did have a problem trying to get the frd arrow out of the playback picture & after 3 years & several TS requests I found a person there with the answer & I was extremely happy!

Summary:

The price is the best thing about this camera. It has a host of options and editing features. Not as many as the Sony but still it is quite useful. With the JVC video capture box you can edit pictures from your camera and make short clips quite easily. Battery life is ok and the craftsman ship is good too. Customer service is also very helpful as well. Having a remote is nice and being able to edit with a selection of fades is nice for making low budget videos.

Strengths:

Price and overall features are the strengthes.

Weaknesses:

Having to purchase the video capture box separately and no fire wire. The next year's model is much better.

Summary:

If I am not wrong, this is what I bought in March: JVC GR-DVF10. I bought it for only $438 and used for a couple of times. Really great machine.

Strengths:

Great picture, exceptionally excellent stereo sound.

Weaknesses:

The accompanying battery is not lasting long enough. Not able to be connected with a computer. But for this price, this camcorder is perfect!
