Review 1 of 7

Price Paid:  $500.00 from River's Camera, Dove

Summary:

Nifty, compact little camera. Very, very easy to use-- but, like others have said here, bad in low light. I had better indoor picture quality from an old RCA VHS videocamera. Consumer Reports says this camera has "Very Good" picture quality. Phooey. It's OK outdoors and inside with loads of daylight, but using it inside at night with regular lighting situations results in extremely grainy images.

Strengths:

Lightweight, cute, easy to use. Good sound quality.

Weaknesses:

El stink-o low light picture quality. Image stabilization a bit clunky.

Review 2 of 7

Price Paid:  $499.00 from Best Buy

Summary:

Everything you are reading about this camera in low light situations is true. I didn't do my research and bought this camera because of the price, and I figured canon is a reputable company who has been an industry leader in camera's for years. I figured wrong and won't do that again. I also made the mistake of taking my first video at my kids soccer game, and when viewing that tape everything looked great. Then got busy and didn't use the camera for about a week, and before I knew it Best Buy's 14 return policy was up and I hadn't seen the terrible results that you get when taking video indoors. My old sharp 8mm handycam does a much better job indoors. Don't make the same mistsake I did, do your research. (Which I guess that you are if you are reading this)

Strengths:

Outdoor video is very good.

Weaknesses:

Even with every light turned on in the house, the video is still very grainy. I am very dissapointed but i guess stuck with it.

Customer Service:

E-mailed canon to ask about the grain, and all that I got was adjusting the White balance, (doesen't work). And a long explanation about how light projects through the lens, yada yada. Very Poor.

Review 3 of 7

Price Paid:  $700.00 from Best Buy

Summary:

The camera is a good camera, when used in daylight. I told the best buys employees that I specifically wanted night vision on it, and they told me that this was the best one they had for the cost I was looking for, I wanted Night Vison, not a nightlight on my camera that makes it slow motion. I was very upset but it was to late to return it, so now I am stuck with a camera that is 6 months old and doesn't work how I wanted it to.

Strengths:

Zoom

Weaknesses:

Sound, Night vison -HORRIBLE you need to move slow inorder to keep the picture from blurring

Review 4 of 7

Price Paid:  $575.00

Summary:

My husband and I did a lot of research on this camera. Canon is the only camera right now to produce real color (not green) in the dark. It has many other cool features. We have huge success outdoor and indoor.

Strengths:

Quality picture. Compact, easy to carry around.

Weaknesses:

Haven't found any yet.

Review 5 of 7

Price Paid:  $699.00 from Best Buy (Unfortunat

Summary:

I bought the Canon ZR70 without making too much reserch. Well, it was a big mistake. If you are going to use this camera only outdoors, in sunny days, you will be fine. However, Do not attempt to use it inside your home. The picture will be dark and if you use the night mode, the picture wil show in slow motion. I'm going to return it even though Best Buy is charging me $90 restocking fee. (buy from Circuit City if you can)

Strengths:

It a pretty camera, you can change the color of the buttons, but that is not the important thing. Isn'it?

Weaknesses:

low light shooting

Customer Service:

I haven't use Canon customer service, but Best Buy customer service is very bad.
