from B&H Summary: After many years of collecting digital images from many different cameras I finally have tried an asset managment soltuion, and chose Extensis 7 for my solution.
I have only started using the many features contained in the application, however it is very easy to use. The first process is to catalog the many images that I have, and I have them spread across multiple hard drives. I thought I knew approx. how many digital images I had, however not until I went through the catalog process with Extensis 7 did I realize how much I didn't know regarding my own inventory of images. I thought I had around 20,000 images in a part of my inventory, but when I cataloged the images with Extensis it found 65,000 images. Obviously I had been guessing.
Although I have only started using the program, the fact that the program will better help me manage my storage solutions and growth rate has already made the program a huge asset to my photography business.
As I dive into the many features and functionality of the Extensis 7 application I'm sure that the benifits will continue to show.
I have used the "Burn to Disk" command to create a archived CD of images, and it is very slick. It certainly streamlines the archiving to CD process. The best part from my perspective is the creation of browsers for both Windows and Mac onto the CD. Very nice. Strengths: Handles many file formats.
Customizable for required needs.
Fast. Weaknesses: None
