The Acer Scanner ScanWit 2720S enables you to scan slides and negative film with one-touch of a button. The auto-loading mechanism can preview or scan up to six frames at one time.
I've used this scanner for 2 years straight. Scanned 1000's of frames of film. Landscape, portrait, sports, wedding. All film types. Its an excellent scanner, especially for the price. It has the best specs in this price range. Slidefilm, as with all film scanner scans very well. Fuji Velvia shows almost zero grain. Print film works much better if you ad Veuscan software. Highly recommend with both film types. This scanner has not had one problem in 2 years of heavy use. For anyone looking to get into scanning film this is a great entry level scanner. Flatbeds are all but useless if you want to actually print from your files.
Strengths:
Everything just mentioned. Excellent qualty able to print up to 8x12 at 300dpi.
Weaknesses:
The slide holders break easily. Just dont have your slide film mounted and use the regular film holder, works better anyways.

Summary:
The Scanwit 2720s is a fine low-cost alternative for many people who want to get good quality scans of their slide and lower speed negative film. I've used it for quite some time now and it has given me excellent quality slide scans that show deep color with acceptable grain, and while it isn't as good a performer scanning negatives, it still does a very adequate job with lower speed negative film. The color rendering on this scanner actually seems to be better than on most slide scanners I've used - even ones far more expensive.
The scanner is not without its drawbacks. The lack of ICE cleanup may turn off people who have more to scan, as it is absolutely necessary that you go through the image to manually clean up, and while the negative carrier is okay, the slide carrier is just flimsy. You *WILL* break the plastic tabs, but fortunately on mine the carrier is still useable. Also particularly a problem for a scanner without ICE, it seems to be pretty vulnerable to environmental dust - so make sure to keep it covered when not in use and clean everything before scanning (should do this whatever scanner you'd use).
Excellent at the price, highly recommended for the budget photographer who needs low/medium volume film scanning.
First one didn't work at all, errors and problems in spades. BenQ sent me a reconditioned one which has been fine. I recommend dumping the software and getting VueScan from hamrick.com, much better.
Strengths:
With Hamrick software, will do 4 slides in a row and you can walk away from it and come back later.
Weaknesses:
The plastic slide holder is a ROYAL PAIN (literally: it makes my fingers hurt) and the clips break off very easily.

PacificImage PrimeFilm, which was really a piece of junk.
Customer Service:
Found it to be excellent. They answered the phone quickly and were on top of everything.
A terrifically good scanner for the price ($290 at ImagingWorld). I've made about 1 GB worth of scans so far, and the quality is outstanding. Even on consumer-grade slide film (EliteChrome 100) the results have been breathtakingly good. It does exaggerate film grain (a common problem among <4000 dpi scanners), but frankly, if you want 11x14-printable results, you shouldn't be using crappy 800-speed film anyway.
This scanner's only major drawback is it's poor software, which, despite being deceptively colorful and infantile, does not make scanning easy. Advanced users shouldn't have much of a problem manipulating the curves tool to get accurate color reproduction and midtone levels, but it's not intuitive or user-friendly. However, if you're prepared to spend a little time tweaking your scans for color accuracy, this scanner is a terrific bargain.
This is an absolutely awesome film scanner for the price and quality you get.
Film scanners are extremely pricey items here in Singapore, so getting
one to fit my budget was a chore.
I was looking high and low for a film scanner, but the Nikons and Canons were out my
my price range. I finally read on the web about the Acer Scanwit S2720 (now repackaged
as Benq) It provided high resolution digital imaging at a fraction of the cost of it's "branded"
counterparts, which was exactly what I wanted! The problem was I could not find a distributor
which had this particular item. I had to write to Acer direct for them to refer me to their only
distributor here in Singapore.
When I got to the store, I had another dilemma! I had to choose between the newer S2740 which
came with the ICE technology and the S2720. The S2740 was about $200 Singapore dollars more
but since budget was my real constraint, I decided to stick with the S2720.
The image quality from the scanner is indeed first class but I must add that you would have
to use with Ed Hamrick's Vuescan software. I believe the user who posted before
me experienced the scanner without Vuescan which can be pretty tricky to correct.
I like doing night photography, and print film scanned with this scanner came out great.
In fact, it was far more better than I personally expected. Think about it, This scanner
would not have won the:
1. Editors Choice award from USA's Outdoor Photographer Magazine
2. Taiwan's National Award &
3. The Product of the Year 2001' on the Russian website of iXBT.
If it was really BAD???

If you are into non print photography and want to get your film digitized for a
minimal cost this is "THE" film scanner to get!
Strengths:
Quality & Price!
Weaknesses:
The plastic film loader is kind of filmsy and might break anytime from wear or simply by droping it on a hard floor. Benq should provide spare parts for this particular item which tends to crack or break off aftersometime. This according to what I heard is a common problem which I believe Benq should look into. Besides, this minor flaw... It is still a great value for money purchase!
