Review 2 of 24

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Turkey

Summary:

MDC-800 is a very good "allroader" cam. If you have very high expectations it may not fulfill them but for daily use it is superb.

Strengths:

Easy to use, durable, video interface

Weaknesses:

Memory and brightness

Similar Products Used:

none

Customer Service:

Superb.

Review 3 of 24

Price Paid:  $245.00 from Walmart

Summary:

For the megapixel rating on this camera (.8) it gives out some pretty nice photos. I have owned this one for about 2 years and have had no trouble with it at all. I try to take care of all my camera equipment but I find this camera to be rugged and of good quality. The software package is well equipped and fun to use. The main thing I would advise anyone to do with this camera (or any camera for that matter) is use it. Run it through the paces and see what you can do with it. I am just now finding things this little jewel will do

Strengths:

Solid, well made. Simple, USB or serial download, 30 sec. video feature, built in memory and CF card. Good picture quality in original size and below.

Weaknesses:

Flash may require some defection in close up shots and is not much help in shots of more than 10 ft. low resolution

Similar Products Used:

Olympus c2100 It ceased to operate on battery power 12 days after I purchased it.

Customer Service:

NEVER NEEDED IN THE TIME I HAVE OWNED.

Review 4 of 24

Summary:

I bought this camera about 8 months ago on eBay for about $130 after shipping. I must say that it has been one of the best purchases I have made. Great for business and pleasure.

Strengths:

-USB support makes downloading pictures fast and reliable -4MB built in memory card -Option to expand to a 96 MB compact flash card for practically unlimited high quality pics -Great quality in any mode -nice flaps to keep the USB, Serial, TV, power adapter and memory card slots clean. -nice viewfinder -Perfect weight: not too heavy, yet sturdy in your hand -doesn't eat batteries as long as the lcd screen isn't used all the time. -drivers and software make a great bundle -with a nice printer(IE HP line) makes wonderful photos that look like regular 35MM! -Good Bargain for the money

Weaknesses:

-Auto power down(can be annoying at times, can be turned off) -flash takes a long time to loadup after use -takes a while to get used to all the features(for example there is an indoor lighting feature, outdoor, indoor with artificial light, and auto-auto is not always the best choice and sometime pictures will come out red and grainy indoors

Similar Products Used:

My father owns a Konica Q Mini. That camera is wonderful, and I have found that my MDC 800 has the same features and then some with better picture quality! The MDC 8000 feels and looks like a normal camera while the Q mini is ackward during picture taking

Customer Service:

Never had to use their customer service, so far their product has served me well with no problems!

Summary:

I wanted to amend my review from December 27, 2000. Shortly after I received the camera, all outside pictures completely washed out. Indoor pictures were fine. I called Mustek, and I was instructed to return the camera to them. They shipped me a completely new camera with accessories within 2 weeks. I was pleased with the customer service.

Strengths:

Customer service did support their camera.

Weaknesses:

Camera broke after short period of time.

Customer Service:

Responded quickly.
