Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $38.00 from provantage

Summary:

After reading all the bad reviews on the Gsmart Mini I just had to give it some praise. The resolution is very good as I am making 8x10 prints that easily rival my 35mm. Canon. It is very important to hold the camera still. The Macro works great at 12 inches. I am getting great shots in the shade outdoors and indoors with good outside lighting through the windows. In all I was pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of this camera for the price and then some.

Strengths:

Ease of operation and picture resolution.

Weaknesses:

Viewfinder not very accurate. It could use a flash.

Customer Service:

None needed.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $80.00 from ThinkGeek

Summary:

As one of the other reviewers mentioned, the most enjoyable part of this product was the anticipation of getting it. Once you open the box, you might say "Ooooh" due to the quite tiny size of the camera itself. But then you take it out of the box, and it's all downhill from there.

Strengths:

Extremely compact size; geek "cool".

Weaknesses:

Poor construction, unreliability in picture taking (pressing the shutter button only works half the time, and the firmware is buggy enough the camera freezes), completely useless in all but the brightest sunlight, viewfinder doesn't even begin to accurately represent the image you'll end up with, etc... and image capture is apparently done line-by-line rather than all-at-once, so stuff at the bottom of the image is about 1/30th of a second older than stuff at the top, meaning anything moving will be skewed in the final image.

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Ebay

Summary:

Bought this cos it was small and looked good. Assumed it worked. It's utterly hopeless at taking any kind of picture, unless you're trying to create some weird scary film sequence where all the pictures are completely blurred. Pathetic... a waste of money. I KNOW it's cheap, but not this cheap...

Strengths:

Tiny, so you don't notice when you lose it...

Weaknesses:

Everything else really. Cheaply made, pathetically blurry images. I enjoyed it for the 2 days it took to get to me in the post. As soon as I opened it, the novelty went.
