from Ritz Summary: Wonderful camera as an art tool. Not as fast, flexible, versatile or easy to use as some of my other cameras (Olympus, Pentax and Sony). No scene modes, slow to write to the CF card, RAW is the only real choice (JPEG is only average and can be bettered for less money), limited battery life, quirky AF (must use care). That said, when the picture is taken at 50 ISO and compared to ANY other digital camera out there, the SIGMA wins hands down. Not even the Canon and Nikon pro variants come close. The 3D film like results of the FOVEON sensor prove that it is inherently a better technology than a Bayer sensor. If you are careful about your shots and not focused on point and shoot use or rapid fire sports or low light photography, then this is the best available tool on the market. It is designed for the photographer who photography as an art. It produces the finest pictures available today. Strengths: Image Quality
Dynamic Range
Color Accuracy
Film like realism
ISO 50 setting
Great Shutter
Bright Viewfinder
Very solid build
Great lenses much less than Nikon or Canon but as good or better quality
Sigma Photo Pro is a great RAW converter software tool Weaknesses: JPEG quality is about equal to an 8 mega pixel camera
slow writing to the card
limited battery life
poor performance at high ISO settings
quirky AF
limited to sigma lenses only
Adobe RAW will not interpret SIGMA raw files
