from eBay Summary: I use to believe that the "Pro" lenses of a given manufacturer were not worth all the extra money they wanted for them. The third party lenses that sold for half the price were just as good. AT LEAST, I believed this until I broke down and bought one of Canon's "L" series lenses. Believe this, there is no consumer lens that can compare to the "PRO" lenses of one of the major camera companies. I can only speak of Canon, for that is all that I have ever used, but Nikon, Minolta, Olympus, Leica reviews will back me up also. The 300L lense of Canon's is absolutely superb. I echo all the positive remarks that are in all the reviews.
Before you sink $300-$500 in a third party or consumer lens, save the extra $200-$600 and buy the best lens your manufacturer makes. Shop around and buy second hand and safe. You will not be unhappy and your pictures will improve 100%. Strengths: Built in hood, On the fly manual focus, compatible with all the Tele-converters Weaknesses: NONE Similar Products Used: Canon 70-200mm f/4L
Canon 24mm f/1.7L Customer Service: Only used once for my wifes Rebel 2000 and had a 5 day turn around. Very satisfied. And no charge even though she had dropped it and the viewfinder screen had broken.
