Review 1 of 9

Summary:
Great pictures outdoors or in natural lighting. The flash unit has a very narrow distance range. Closer than 5 or 6 feet and your picture is too "hot" and beyond 8 or 9 feet, it gets too dark. At just under one megapixel, 5 X 7 inch prints turn out great, sometime even 8 X 10 inch prints are of acceptable quality. When using the flash indoors in low light, you must hold the camera very still. The shutter speed seems to drop under 1/30 since a blurred result is not easy to avoid. Overall, this is a great camera, just beware that it takes a littel getting used to in order to achieve the best results.

Strengths:
Compact flash memory cards Easy to use controls Bright, clear viewfinder LCD screen on/off control Removable flash

Weaknesses:
Only uses two AA batteries Flash requires separate 3V battery Slow "save image" time - 10 to 15 seconds in fine mode

Similar Products Used:
Casio's Epson

Customer Service:
Excellent. Onely ahd to call once, but the tech on the other end actually knew something about the product.

Summary:
Eventually, someone will design a low-end digital camera that is both easy to use and takes good pictures.I have ended up with both a Coolpix 600 and an Oly 340. I like the Coolpix's small size, docking station, detachable flash, 16mb flash memory, and long-life lithium battery. However, compared to the Oly 340, the Coolpix's picture quality and ability to take pictures in a variety of low light or extra bright light conditions, just plain sucks. It also can't handle targets that are moving very well.On the otherhand, I have observed many of the less technically inclined members of my family try to use both cameras. Most of them prefer the simplicity of the Coolpix 600. In fact, I think its "extras" like the docking station and rechargable battery, should become standard on all digital cameras.

Summary:
I am a past owner of 2 less-than-perfect DCs (Casio QV10A and QV100) I was originally intending to get the Olympus D320L but it was out of stock, then the Camera guy told me they had an extra Nikon E600 from a cancelled order. After consulting some online reviews I went for it. The normal pictures are of an average quality but the Indoor/Outdoor on the 'fine' setting is clear and crisp. This combined with it's compact size (even with the detachable flash) makes this a great buy for the casual digicam buff. Impress your friends!

Summary:
Ok i finaly found the Coolpix600 not an easy task but well worth the effort. The camera is easy to use and light wieght, battery life is good about 50-100 pics off a charge depending on LCD usage. The camera takes very nice pictures in all modes and the software that comes with it is fun and easy to use.I recomend Adobe Photoshop 4.0 or higher for tweaking your pictures a little more. The Nikon is a complete kit which is a nice way to buy a digital camera, buy a couple of extra sets of rechargeable batteries about $9.00 don't need to buy a charger as the camera will charge them for you or get a charger and charge a couple sets at a time. Nikon has stoped selling this camera as well as there 900 series but if you can find one for $350 or less get it well worth the money.

Summary:
I saw this camera sitting on a shelf at CPU, and I simply loved the size. The thing fits in a small shirt pocket! And even better then that, its 30%+ cheaper at most internet sites! It was 'discontinued' at Comp for $500.The image quality seems very good. Color quality seems fine. I am presently using an old Kodak 40. While this has better resloution, that seems to have as good or better color quality.I've only had this a few weeks, and I'm still trying it out. If I notice a remarkable difference from my first impressions, i will report. But, my first impression is a strong one. The size is absolutely fantastic. You can take a pic and not seem like the 'papparatzzi" type.
