from J&R Music world Summary: This is my first digital camera after years of using Minolta, Nikon, Canon and Leica SLR´s. After taking more than 250 pictures in a recent trip to Las Vegas in all possible conditions I can state I have a pretty god knowledge of its features and limitations.
For a point and shoot camera its pretty good, nice quality pics at second highest definition. Colors are excellent, comes with remote control and timer for self portraits. Its pretty compact and the battery life is quite good if the flash is not used all the time.
On the low points side. Even though its an all metal body( which is good), it fell to the floor and the shield got bent and detacched from the body, this is BAD as the camera will not work without the shield plus its function is to protect the camera not detach of it falls!, second the camera comes with only 16 megs of memory ( good for about 10 pics in high resolution) to get good milagfe you will have to invest over $100 in aditional memory(256megs), finnaly its programable features do not possee the right combination for advanced fotography ( ie sports at night).
In summary, its not close to a quality SLR, but its not supposed to be one. If you need professional features is a digital camara, purchasse a real digital SLR.
If you want a nice quality pocket size digital camera with features, picture quality and rugged body, this is it.
Well recomended! Strengths: Nice picture quality, metal body, water resistent( not for scuba or snorkling), very compact and feature packed. Weaknesses: expensive at $399 + $120 for memory, no case means back lcd may get scratched, not sesitive enough for some night pictures of moving objects.
printing digital pics is expensive, $0.49 each 4x6 at kodak.com Similar Products Used: Minolta, Nikon, Canon, Leica SLR´s, non-digital Customer Service: Good service from J&R, not dealt with Olympus Yet
