Review 1 of 29

Price Paid:  $228.00 from Target

Summary:

Straight-forward controls, full manual as well as various automatic exposure settings make this an incredible buy. It is fun to use and the quality of the images certainly rivals my Nikon point and shoot. I really have no complaints, which is quite rare for me!

Strengths:

Good viewfinder, solid construction, long battery life--after one or two charge/discharge cycles--and unbeatable value.

Weaknesses:

I could not figure out how to remove red-eye or otherwise edit using the bundled software. I kept taking pictures of the ground until I figured out that the shutter release is slow, very slow. Then I learned not to rush to sneak a peek at the image on the LCD.

Customer Service:

no experience--hope it stays that way!

Review 2 of 29

Price Paid:  $220.00 from PC Richards-thsi is

Summary:

The A60 camera is awesome! See below:

Strengths:

This is the first digital camera that I bought. After reading a lot of reviews of thsi camera online and with it getting a BEST PICK in Consumer Reports, I decided to buy it (with my fiancees premission!) Anyways, this camera amazed me! I have used some of my friends digital cameras which cost $600-$750, and this camera can keep up with the best of them. Just keep it on the Automatic setting, and the camera works it magic all by itself. It couldnt be easier! I keep the settings on Superfine for the edging of objects and keep it at the medium setting for resolution. Took it to a car show today and took about 20 pictures in bright sunlight as well as shade. All the pictures came out crystal clear, even when you zoom way in on your computer when the pictures are downloaded. With a 256 meg compact flash card, it will hold 431 pictures with the above settings. If you are an amateur-advanced amateur, this camera is for you. Do not let the price fool you.....this camera has the quality and features of cameras $100's of dollars more expensive!

Weaknesses:

One thing to gripe about....I couldnt get the camera to download pictures to my computer. It wasnt until i used a few choice words, and also found waaaaay back on page 120 something in the owners manual that the camera may need to be on the "PLAYBACK" setting to download. As soon as I did that....no more problems! WHY IN THE H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEYSTICKS DONT THEY TELL YOU THIS UP FRONT!

Price Paid:  $230.00 from B&H

Summary:

Camera has the best color I have ever seen, Shots are very clear, but Auto feature doesnt always get the best shot, Macro mode is good. But the camera is very heavy with the 4 AA batteries

Strengths:

Great color Best Menu's and manual settings Good zoom and flash Fast memory transfer AA batteries, and doesn't guzzle batteries Quiet shots

Weaknesses:

Very Heavy, and can break easily if dropped Too big

Olympus D230 (noisy and lousy color) Fuji A203 (best camera for the money)

Customer Service:

Review 4 of 29

Price Paid:  $229.00 from B&H

Summary:

Decent point and shoot - but can't touch an SLR for quality. Photos are great of outdoor stationary objects. If you want a camera for people and portraits, this is not the right camera - especially if you are trying for moving children or sports. The autofocus is slow and iffy and there is a significant shutter lag. Indoor pictures are poor without flash and the flash is way too hot and prone to red-eye.

Strengths:

Instant results. Small size.

Weaknesses:

Too much depth of field. Too menu driven. Not enough detail captured in head and shoulders portraits.

Nikon N80 Canon AE1 - SLRs -

Review 5 of 29

Price Paid:  $249.00 from Don't know

Summary:

I never asked for a digital camera, nor desired the need for one. I got it for Christmas from my parents, and I was happy to see it. I march with the Colts Drum and Bugle corps over the summer, and They figured this would be better than disposable cameras. I am ready to use it this summer.

Strengths:

Excellent video feature. Glad there is a mic. I see cameras with a video feature without a mic, and kind of wonder why the feature is there without sound. efficient for my use. Nice sharp image. easy to use. very good flash for night images. great zoom. all and all, excellent. software given with it is very rewarding too

Weaknesses:

the CF card supplied is not enough to last a day upon receieving. I got it christmas...I did not have entirely enough room for all my photos. Wish a cheap case was supplied with it. though, after 2 days of having it, I went out and got a bigger CF card, and a great samsonite worlproof case with it. works awesome now
